The fulfilment of the needs of tlie child will asure her optimal development. If the
child is not provided good physical care, it can lead to sickness and disease. In extreme cases, this may result in a handicap such as loss of sight or hearing. An undernourished and sick child has less energy and gets tired easily. She does not take interest in her surroundings and is irritable. This has a negative influence on all aspects of development.
