Explain the nature of relationship between caste and class in India.

The farming occupations are divided into four groups:

(1) Farmer: A tiller who cultivates his own land.

(2) Cultivator: A person who cultivates his own land.

(3) Share-cropper: He takes up cultivation of others’ land on a share-cropping basis and labour without hired cultivate the land.

(4) Agricultural Labour: A person who cultivates others’ land and get the wages. There is also the inclusion of gardeners, fishermen, animal breeders, etc
