Variety of language typical of a certain social class. It is quite obvious that when one language is used in different situation or for different purposes then the component selected of that language to suit different purposes or situations are different. Let us take a very common example.
Language spoken for some religious lecture would be different from that of a classroom lecture which will be different form that of the language used in the screenplay of a film, and which again will be different from that of the language used in a sport’s commentary.
A language used in a recipe of a dish would be entirely different from that of the language used in scientific discovery. We are aware of the fact that certain kind of language is appropriate for certain use and that we can always guess the use of the language it based our daily life experiences.
We are also aware of the fact that one individual uses different varieties of a language to suit different situations and purposes. And it is not that different varieties of language are spoken by different individuals and not the same one. Let us take another example.
The variety of language person chooses to speak to his wife would be different from that of the language which he will choose to speak to his boss in the office or his seniors or his professors or his colleagues. And all of these varieties are different from each other as well. Now the same person would choose an entirely different variety when he would go for shopping or booking an air ticket.
