Different Theories About The Origin Of Language

Although it is true that a number of words in every language are echoic or onomatopoeic, these are few in number. Another argument against this theory is that our language also seems to influence the way we hear and imitate the sounds of nature, e.g., the roasters crow cock-a-doodle-doo’ in English; ‘kuk-ru-ka-roo’ in Hindi and ‘kikeriki’ in German !

यद्यपि यह सच है कि हर भाषा में बहुत से शब्द गूंजनात्मक या आनुमेपणिक हैं, ये संख्या में कुछ हैं। इस सिद्धांत के खिलाफ एक और तर्क यह है कि हमारी भाषा भी जिस तरह से हम सुनते हैं और प्रकृति की आवाज़ की नकल करते हैं, जैसे अंग्रेजी में रोस्टरों को कौवा मुर्गा-डूडल-डू को प्रभावित करते हैं; हिंदी में ‘कुक-रु-का-रू’ और जर्मन में ‘किकरिकी’!
