Discuss the meaning and types of questionnaire.

Answer – A questionnaire is a research tool in which there are a series of questions and other signals intended to collect information from respondents. The questionnaire was invented by Sir Francis Galton. In the data collection process, questionnaire plays a central role . The questionnaire facilitates the coding and capturing of data, and it leads to overall reduction in cost and time associated with data collection and processing. The questionnaire contains a large number of questions related to the subject. There are sections in many questionnaires which are part of the main subject and these clauses go into the details of the subject matter. The questionnaire addresses the following issues, that is why research is being done and why the survey form has been selected to gather information. The second thing is that the questionnaire relates to how information is being used and what information will be accurate and timely.

Types of Questionnaires –

1 Structured Questionnaire –As the name implies, they are structured. This is the reason that the answers have already been given and the respondent must tick on the most appropriate answer. Most questionnaires are full of responses to most questions, and even if a person wants to respond differently from the reactions mentioned in the questionnaire, then there is a column indicating “specify any other response,”. Although all the responses are clearly gains and predefined and there is little flexibility to add anything except rare cases.

2 Unstructured Questionnaire – In questionnaires, the questions have expired and the answers have not been given or are not preset. And therefore, the respondent can do whatever they want to answer on these questions. Even though being unstructured, the order of questions follows an order. This order is preset by the researcher. The answers received are noted by the researcher or the respondent fills it himself. Since someone has the flexibility to add their own thoughts and feelings, these questionnaires explain very factual and truthful and descriptive reactions.

3 Semi-structured Questionnaire – This type of questionnaire has a mixed approach. Some questions are structured in it and some are not structured. Generally there is a mixed approach. Structured questionnaire permits exploration of patterns and trends that help in describing what is happening in L & T context, and a measure of respondents’ opinions, views, feelings, and perceptions about issues of special concern to the evaluator Offer. They also help in deactivation.
