The key differences between system software and application software are:

• Audience: System software is essential for the computer’s operation and is used by system administrators and developers. Application software is used by end-users to perform everyday tasks.
• Installation: System software is typically pre-installed on the computer and manages its resources. Application software needs to be installed separately by the user.
