Do or Make

IGNOU GRAMMAR PART 2 – How many of you get confused about where to use “Do” or “Make”? There would be many of us. Do not worry…

NOW LET’S START IGNOU GRAMMAR PART 2 –

First, you need to understand that Do and Make sound similar in term of its meaning. But they both are used in different context.

यहां पर आपको समझना है कि Do और Make दोनों का अर्थ लगभग एक सा ही है — Do करना और Make बनाना— लेकिन दोनों को प्रयोग करने के तरीके अलग-अलग है। आइये समझते है – कि कैसे ये दोनों अलग-अलग है और कैसे इन दोनों का सही प्रयोग करना है –

Do (Let us understand)

“Do” is used for general or repeated activities. Like – Exercise, makeup, shopping, cleaning, etc.

“Do” का प्रयोग हम किसी भी तरह की रोजमर्रा की या फिर नार्रमल गतिविधियों के लिये करते हैं अब यहां ये सोचना है आपको कि किस प्रकार की दैनिक और रोज दोहराने वाली गतिविधि आप करते हैं जैसे- एक्सरसाइज करना, किचन साफ करना

Ex.

1. I do (करना) exercise.
2. Do you do (करना)yoga or stretching?
3. I am going to do (करना)my hair.
4. Did not you do(करना) your make up?
5. I will do (करना)the shopping.
6. You will do(करना) the dishes.
7. Okay, today I will do (करना)kitchen as I am on leave.

Make (Let us understand)

On the other hand, Make is used when it comes to creating, building or producing something either on your own or using machines.

Make का प्रयोग वहां किया जाता है जहां किसी भी तरह की चीजों की निर्माण करते है, उन्हें खुद से बनाते है, या निर्मित करते हैं अपने हाथों द्वारा या मशीन का प्रयोग करते हुये।

Ex-

• I make (बनाना) my breakfast every morning on my own.
• Do you make (बनाना) TikTok videos?
• Let us make (बनाना) a plan to have a party on coming Sunday.
• How you are going to make (बनाना) money?
• Make (बनाना या सुनिश्चित कर लेना) sure before taking any step.
• I always make (बनाना या सलीके से लगाना) my bed right after getting up.
