LEVEES OF MULTILINGUALISM

There are fundamentally two socials relations – the relation of solidarity or intimacy between people and the relation of power or distance between people. The first is the relation of inclusion and the second is the relation of exclusion. The choice of language, as the choice of particular words, grammatical forms and syntactic structures, derives from the social relation that is acknowledged or to be established.
