Management Functions

The five basic Functions, which a manager has to perform as per classical model of management, which has been accepted since 1920’s and is still popular, by early authors like Henry Fayol are:
• Planning,
• Organising,
• Coordinating,
• Directing, and
• Controlling.

Planning
Planning is a process of forecasting the future in advance. From where we are it leads to where we want to be. Planning requires rigorous analysis of input, output and costs.
