Here a little information about Itwaru’s background would not be out of place. Itwaru born in Guyana in 1942 and has lived in Canada since 1969. Itwaru’s poems, stories, critical essays and fiction reflect his concern with alienation and rootlessness. Many of his tales are set in the troubled years of Guyana’s slavery and freedom struggle. His two main prose works are TheInvention of Canada (1990) and Closed Entrances (1994).
