Positive and negative correlation
Answer – DIRECTION OF CORRELATION: POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE –
- Positive Correlation : Positive Correlation indicates that as the value of a variable increases, the value of the other variable also increases. Similarly, as the value of one variable decreases, the value of the other variable also decreases. This means that both variables move in the same direction. For example, as the temperature rises, the sale of cold-drinks increases. As the openness increases to experience, the score of creativity increases.
- Negative correlation : Negative correlation indicates that as the value of a variable increases, the value also decreases on the second variable. Similarly, as value at one variable decreases values on other variable increments. This means that both variables move in the opposite direction. For example, as temperatures rise, woolen clothing sales decrease.
