LINE 1-10

Fear death? – to feel the fog in my throat,

    The mist in my face,

When the snows begin, and the blasts denote

    I am nearing the place,

The power of the night, the press of the storm,

    The post of the foe;

Where he stands, the Arch Fear in a visible form,

Yet the strong man must go:

For the journey is done and the summit attained.

    And the barriers fall,

Context

Prospice poem is about begins in an interrogative form. In this the poet asks a question. scared to death? Browning believes that we should not be afraid of death at all. What happens when death is about to happen? How does that person feel? He has described all this in this poem. In fact you will hear that we are really facing them. When death comes, the throat swells. The ability to communicate decreases in humans. He can’t speak. Ceases to be visible. The eyesight goes out. Slowly the cooling starts coming inside the body. A gust of wind comes. He feels that this can be felt by the same person who is close to death. The people around do not feel the gust of strong wind.

It seems that cold gusts of strong wind are blowing and the person is feeling cold. That person comes very near to death. The power of the night and the power of the storm begin to be felt. He begins to feel a lot of pressure and a gust of strong wind feels as if it is going on. And when he starts feeling himself under a lot of pressure, the great man stands in front of him directly. Death takes a form and stands before him. No matter how strong a person is, however strong he may be, even if he is rich, he still has to go. The journey of life has ended. And death has come. All obstacles have fallen. After death the discrimination of religion and caste etc. ends. Although the poet’s father was against this marriage. That is why the poet says that after death the discrimination of all caste and religion ends.

Line 11 – 16

Though a battle’s to fight ere the guerdon be gained,

The reward of it all.

I was ever a fighter, so – one fight more,

The best and the last!

I would hate that death bandaged my eyes and forbore,

And bade me creep past.

Context

After death, there will be a fight for heaven’s prize. This will be the record of everything before receiving the award. How to act in your life? The award will be given on the basis of that. I have always been a warrior. Of course, I’ve always struggled. I have faced many difficulties in my life. Many wars have been fought. One more war. This will be the best and last battle. That is, there will be a battle with death, which will be the best. will be final. There is no war after this. I will hate the death that is blindfolded, that is, a person does not know when his death is going to happen.

Of course, I don’t want to die like a coward. I want to face death. I want to fight him. I want to make her feel complete. I want to experience and face all those situations. The way my partner experienced it. I want to feel the same way. I want to feel the pain of the heroes of ancient times. I will pay for the pain remaining in my life. But when we bravely face death, the worst situation turns into the best situation. This dark moment (death) will come to an end. The wrath of death means that the voices of the demons will gradually subside.

Line 17 – 21

Shall dwindle, Shall blend,

Shall change, shall become first a peace out of pain,

Then a light , then thy breast,

O thou soul of my soul! I shall clasp thee again,

And with God be the rest!

Context

Terrible sounds will subside. Will get it eventually. First she will turn from pain to peace. A light will appear. Which is called the light of heaven. Then your chest will be visible. The word breast is used because the poet resides in the heart of his beloved and she resides in his heart. Your chest is visible i.e. you (girlfriend) is visible. O soul of my soul i.e. my soul i.e. we are two bodies one soul. I’ll see you again I’ll catch you. Then in heaven, we will both rest together.
