Analyse the following extract of a poem by Tennyson using the tools given to you in Block 9 of your Course. Ring out, wild bells Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky, The flying cloud, the frosty light:

Eighth Stanza OF Ring Out Wild Bells

Ring in the valiant man and free,

The bigger heart, the kindlier hand;

Ring out the dimness of the land,

Ring in the Christ that will be.

Strikingly this stanza begins with the storyteller looking at presenting as opposed to getting rid of something. He discusses how he needs humankind to be going ahead: Valiant, free, enormous hearted and kind. The last line is intriguing as he discusses ringing in Christ. Is this a reference to the second coming? Does he think this is the main way that the world could be how he would have preferred?
