This dialogue reflect that Mr. Joe is very good men. He called pip as love “old chap”. Joe is only character who remains consistently good, gentle and lovable from the beginning of novel to the end.
But Joe is a hen-pecked husband who is constantly harassed by his wife. Still he is a good husband and when after having been attacked by Orlick, she falls seriously ill and even loses some of her sense, he takes good care of her.
3) At night Pip can not sleep because he was scared for Magwitch’s threaten. When he steal food inside voice –

“wake up”
“Mrs Joe, wake up”
“You’re a thief , pip”
He maked him steel food and a file from his sister and brother-in – low house where he lived.
