LEVEES OF MULTILINGUALISM
Thus the two high and low varieties of the same language have different functions and are used in different social contexts. Their use is conventionalized socially. When using a language, the choice of the appropriate variety has to follow the social convention.
इस प्रकार एक ही भाषा की दो उच्च और निम्न किस्मों में अलग-अलग कार्य होते हैं और विभिन्न सामाजिक संदर्भों में उपयोग किए जाते हैं। उनका उपयोग सामाजिक रूप से पारंपरिक है। एक भाषा का उपयोग करते समय, उपयुक्त विविधता के विकल्प को सामाजिक सम्मेलन का पालन करना पड़ता है।
Level of the Individual
In a multilingual community, speakers have more than one language. From a communication point of view, it is meaningful to talk of their language repertoire rather than of his or her mother tongue. They may have learnt more than language simultaneously from the beginning. Mother tongue, as a label of social identification is just one of the languages in their repertoire.
बहुभाषी समुदाय में, वक्ताओं में एक से अधिक भाषाएं होती हैं। एक संचार दृष्टिकोण से, अपनी मातृभाषा की बजाय अपनी भाषा प्रदर्शन के बारे में बात करना अर्थपूर्ण है। उन्होंने शुरुआत से एक साथ भाषा से अधिक सीखा होगा। मातृभाषा, सामाजिक पहचान के एक लेबल के रूप में सिर्फ उनके प्रदर्शन में भाषाओं में से एक है।
When speakers have a repertoire of languages, they have a choice in the use of language. Language is used for giving and getting information, for sharing emotions, ‘ for getting action done, for acquiring knowledge, etc. But these acts of communication are not the only use of language. Language is also used for acknowledging and establishing social relation. A communication act of the language, is interwined with a social act.
जब वक्ताओं के पास भाषा का प्रदर्शन होता है, तो उनके पास भाषा के उपयोग में एक विकल्प होता है। भावनाओं को साझा करने, ज्ञान प्राप्त करने के लिए, जानकारी देने और प्राप्त करने के लिए भाषा का उपयोग किया जाता है, लेकिन संचार के ये कार्य भाषा का एकमात्र उपयोग नहीं हैं। सामाजिक संबंध को स्वीकार करने और स्थापित करने के लिए भाषा का भी उपयोग किया जाता है। भाषा का संचार कार्य, सामाजिक कार्य के साथ अंतर्निहित है।
