“T-test statistical hypothesis test used determine whether is significant difference between means of two groups or samples. It’s commonly used when you have two groups and want to compare their means to assess if any observed differences statistically significant or simply due to random chance.
There are two main type of t-tests: independent samples t-test and paired samples t-test. Independent samples t-test used when you have two separates unrelated groups, while paired samples t-test used when you have two related groups, such as before-and-after measurements on same subjects.
T-test calculates t-statistic, which is measure of difference between means of two groups relative to variability within each group. Larger t-statistic, more likely observed difference statistically significant. T-statistic compared to critical value from t-distribution, and if exceeds critical value, can conclude significant difference between group means.
