IDENTIFY THE CHIEF FEATURES OF JANE AUSTEN’S TREATMENT OF LOVE AND MARRIAGE IN PRIDE AND PREJUICE.

In the novel, the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett is the worst example of their kind. They have different poles in their thoughts and temperament. Their marriage has been shown to be a disaster, playing a part of the idiot with the wife, and husband is retreating to live an unmarried life. Jane Austen says about this marriage:
“Elizabeth’s father fascinated the youth and beauty … married a woman whose weak understanding and generous mind started very early in marriage, ended all true affection for her.” Their marriage lacks “emotional consistency and intellectual understanding”. Bennett’s marriage ends in mutual tolerance.
