  1. Sur administration: Sur administration refers to the administrative system under the Sur dynasty, which ruled over the Indian subcontinent from 1540 to 1556, after defeating the Mughals. The Sur rulers were of Afghan descent, and their administration was influenced by Afghan traditions. Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Sur dynasty, implemented various administrative reforms during his reign.

Sher Shah’s administration was known for its efficient revenue system, infrastructure development, and military organization. He introduced the measurement of land for revenue assessment, which came to be known as the “zabt” system. The empire was divided into provinces, each under a governor who ensured the collection of taxes and maintained law and order. The Sur administration also focused on constructing a vast network of roads, known as the “Grand Trunk Road,” to facilitate trade and communication.
