Analyse the following extract of a poem by Tennyson using the tools given to you in Block 9 of your Course. Ring out, wild bells Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky, The flying cloud, the frosty light:

Ring Out Wild Bells is about the new year and all the ways the world could improve. Tennyson takes the expression “ring out the old, ring in the new” and turns it to “ring out” every one of the negatives he finds on the planet and “ring in” more positive things.

The sonnet is composed in free verse it is isolated into eight stanza which are every one of the four lines in length. Each line is around 8 syllables in length and utilizations 4 iambs giving the sonnet an even beat. There is likewise a steady rhyming example which adds to the practically melodic nature of the lyric. The rhyming example is (ABBA) The tone of this ballad is begging to be proven wrong as it is part dissent sonnet and part tribute to what the future should resemble.
